Anyone going to these East Coast events for 2019 ? Loring will be September and Slipstream around June but has not been posted yet.

It is labeled as a 1/2 mile event but it is a little short at around 1,700 feet I believe after the roll. But there are car's running over 205 mph and that is really incredible to watch. I have raced many different types of tracks, road race,1/4 mile ,auto cross and such for years and the car's at this event are with out a doubt the fastest street cars I have ever seen ! Worth going to watch at least.

I heard Pocono becomes a lot of watching while the star cars are constantly cutting the line. Too many cars is great for pictures and promotion , but not great if you only make 2-4 passes for $300-500.

I may consider going to Loring in September , but it's 11hrs each way. I'll need to feel confident with some changes to pick up speed. Its not just about how much power you make, but about maintaining power, and straight line traction. I think properly aligned and lowered will be my focus along with some "areo" tweaks.

RaceHorse I agree with the Slip Stream issues, they have been addressed at the last event from many complaints, but I am going because that's my base line to know where the car is at this year.
There are some serious cars there though and that's what I love about it.
I will be at the September Loring event and it will be my first time so trying to cover every possible situation the car will be seeing. Supercharger heat will be fore most for sure so working a little harder on that. Pocono is never a problem because outside air temps are in the 45-50* range so perfect for forced induction !!

Also nine hours for me to get to Loring as well !!

Definitely interested. I see they released dates today but I couldn’t find much more info on their website. What are the safety/car requirements?

Not much LOL !! Just make sure everything is tight, battery is secure , tires are good, and you have an up to date helmet. If you go let me know and we will meet up and I will point you in the right direction on what's going on.

funny. i was looking for 1/2 mile events in the northeast after watching the vinwiki video on the guy who hosts them down south. did a little googling and found slipstream and then came across this thread here.

anyone who's gone have any input? waiting around all day to get only a couple runs is a bit lame but if i got 5 in i think i'd be happy

I go every year. 4-5 runs is doable. Any track event you will have a wait.... unless no one is there .

@SICAMG Cool i'll probably go at least once. what class did you run under? i see theres RWD, Euro & 4000LBS+

@cnterline What sucked about it? i think it's a bit pricey especially if you only get a couple turns but i think it'd be fun to try and there looks to be a lot of other cool cars there.

the Roll Race event I attended had too many cars IMO ,it started an hour late then advertised, wait time was rediculous , they had given out way too many cut the line passes to sponsors which contributed to much of the problem,I think I made 2 runs that day , and they lost the time slip for one of them , for me a 3 hr ride each way for that was a waste , but hey that was my experience and I will never go to Pocono again for that reason, Slipstream did apologize to an e mail I sent and offered a half off if I went again ,the Slipstream half mile airport run in PA was fine .

I hear you centerline. Ran into that stuff at Englishtown one time and said never again. Hours before my first run after many oil downs on the track and letting the big boys go. Again I am base lining my performance gains off of every year so that's one of the big reasons.

Buy a draggy for $150 and find a place to test it's a lot easier and less aggravation.

Race Horse any hotels close to the Loring track that you can recommend ? It's about 9 hours for me to get there.
Also what are the air temperatures in September ?

I remember following the September weather this past year and I think it was high 60s low 70s for the mid afternoon highs with temps dipping over night. It seemed to be perfect weather for decent IATs with still a chance of a little traction. Low 50s would be perfect for our forced induction cars, but you get what you get. Also, you can buy in advance VP fuels and they will have it on site for you when you arrive at the airport.

As far as hotels, I stayed about 25 mins away, I think it was a Holiday Inn Express. There is nothing real close. There a Ma and Pa moose lodge a little closer, it was where more of the racers stayed. I had my wife and kids with me so I tried to find something closer to civilization and restaurants, but there is still not much. I only did one day of racing and 2 nights. I think I'll plan 3 nights and 2 days of racing, not to feel rushed and to allow for a better day of weather if warm or rainy.

when i bought my car, the po told me the brakes would need to be replaced in around 5k miles. I'm about 3.5k in, so i doubt i'll pass the 30% pad/40% rotor life left requirement they have and unfortunately doubt i'll be able to get them before the 4.20 date

the bigger issue is actually getting the time to change them. I do all of my car work when i'm back at my parents 5 hours upstate and not sure i'll be making a weekend trip up there before 4.20.

i may be waiting until the fall 2019 dates for slipstream. I will however hit the quarter mile up near them (empire dragway) whenever i do change the brakes & ic pump
