New E63 owner - BeAste intro
Hi Mbworld,
Long time lurker, finally getting around to posting. I've had my E63 for about 4 months now really starting to love it. It's a 2007 Designo Graphite on Corteccia Brown leather. I bought the car with 97,XXX on the clock and despite the mileage the car looks as if it's got half that amount of miles on it both inside and out. 100% stick at the time of purchase, and so far the only modifications made to the car have been lowering on links (used some OEM adjustable links found that I believe are an S-Class part), wheel spacers, front lip, finned rear diffuser, removed charcoal pre-filters from intake, resonator delete, and chrome delete. This car is a replacement for my BMW, a 2003 M-Sport 540i/6speed (Sterlinggrau/silberledder).
The past 4 months of ownership have been great! I recently took the car down to Mercedes-benz of Eugene, Oregon to have the car inspected and found that it has been extremely well maintained. 7 pages of dealer maintenance history documenting everything back to 10,000miles. I purchased the car intending to do nothing more to it than enjoy it. But the urge to modify is slowly creeping in and I found my self sometimes wishing I had purchased an E55 instead. My 540 saw it's fair share of modifications...Coilovers, 6-speed manual swap, custom exhaust, ECU tune, dinan intake manifold, and M5 limited slip differential being the most noteworthy on a lengthy list of modifications. It was a great, fun car to own.
Here's a pic of the E63 as it sits today:
Looking forward to learning a lot about these cars. What a solid chassis the W211 is.
Other vehicles in the "stable" are a 2015 C300, and a 1984 BMW 318 (M20b25 swap, headers, welded diff, 5-lug swap, euro-bumper conversion...etc)

Your car looks great! Can you give me a little more info about the lowering links - i.e. how they work and how to install them? It seems like this method wouldn't put additional wear on the airbags?
Thanks,
Cyrus

Lowering links trick the car into thinking it's riding higher than it is, so it rides lower. Many people think they're ghetto and that lowering by STAR is better when it does the exact same thing.
The links replace the stock ones and just pop on. I've never heard about OEM adjustable ones that OP mentioned. Aftermarket ones are relatively cheap.

Yeah I researched both options and came to the conclusion that it didn’t matter. I do detect a consensus that links are the “wrong” way to do it. I’m no stranger to maintaining an car with air suspension. I had an L322 Range Ranger and had to replace bags and compressor.
Thanks for for the compliments guys.
I recently picked up a up a set of 20” 3piece OZ Gallileo. I’m not too keen on the idea of running 20s with a 30 sidewall so they might be up for sale soon. Also contemplating the secondary cat delete...

Vinyl wrap. Thinking I’ll do the roof next. No pano on this car but I really like the black roofs. My w205 has the pano roof, it’s the only feature I feel like my w211 is missing.
The interior color really does not photograph well. I’m a bit color deficient in the sight department so my description of it being a bit darker than olive green may be off.

congrats! I have an 2009 E63, and I'd guess a bit north of you in Kent, WA. Going on 5 months of ownership myself...and learning a lot from this forum. Love it
