E55 dipstick review
Overall review of the eBay w211 dipstick
I have a 2005 e55 with bolt on mods + headers, I had the oil changed <100 miles ago with 9 quarts liquimoly 5w-40 , I used the $15 eBay dipstick to measure oil on my car after i drove it for about 45 mins and let it sat for about 8 mins ( flat surface in my garage) prior to this the car sat for 2.5 weeks while I was on holiday this was my readings
AFTER DRIVING-
First read - 130
2nd read- 140
3rd read -110
Now this alarmed be a bit so I checked through the cluster which said ok, and while the car was running it said 6.3 quarts which I know is normal
I yet again checked the next morning when the car was dead cold with the dipstick

This is my personal findings and I don’t know how reliable the eBay sticks are! I know it does hang maybe 5 inches off the top whilst fully in!

I bought mine on Amazon and have found the car takes a ton of time to get all the oil down into the pan. My measurements show fullest after an hour or more of sitting.
The dipstick does have a ave a few inches out of the dipstick tube when inserted fully so I think that’s normal.

As long as it bottoms out correctly it should be very repeatable. But you are best to check it cold if you want consistent results. I just use the put in what I drained out approach and use the dumb add minus feature in the cluster.
