E63 Trunk Spoiler Question
After a good bath I noticed my trunk spoiler is peeling up from one end, about 2 inches or so. I’ve had the car 5 months. It’s matched painted. Are these factory installed? If so are they held on just by 3M tape, or is there some screws I’m not seeing?
Thanks

These trunk lid spoilers are held in place by 3M double sided adhesive tape. I would suggest using dental floss to remove it, then removing any residue from the trunk lid and then re-install it.

Your most certainly welcome. To clarify, use the dental floss as a saw to cut thru the 3M adhesive tape, while gently prying the sides of the spoiler up. After the spoiler is removed, use goo gone or some other type of adhesive remover spray to remove the tape residue left behind. After that is done, use plenty of alcohol to clean and prep to surface of the trunk for the spoiler re-attachment. Spread the 3M adhesive all around the perimeter of the spoiler, so that your edges will not detach like in your photo. And press down hard so that it sticks. Then leave to car out in the sun, so that the adhesive in the tape sets up a good bond.

I suggest using an eraser wheel to remove the tape residue. When I swapped out my spoiler I went with the adhesive remover and it took over an hour. I used the eraser wheel on my diffuser and it took all of 10 minutes.

an eraser wheel huh, never heard of it, but I'll look it up, thank you for the suggestion! I've done similar before but just fishing line or similar and yes, goo gone that took an hour of scrubbing.
I appreciate it

I thought about the rubber eraser wheel to remove that hard adhesive residue. But failed to mention it in the thread.

The only issue with an eraser wheel, is that you have to keep it moving. You can't stay in one place for too long, as the eraser generates heat and could burn thru your clear coat, if you stay in the same place for too long. But in most cases the adhesive comes off rather quickly. Just be aware
