any opinions on m113k intake spacers
hey everyone, has anyone added the intake spacers that vrp and upd sell? they are claiming 18hp for 150 bucks which seems like a steal but i havent ready any reviews or seen any with them on. does anyone offer any feedback for this mod?

I havent done them yet but plan too, but i will say i have been told by 5 people they added em on the dyno an saw 10 to 14 wheel hp that pretty impressive for a spacer so take it for what its worth

I think you’re going to get very divided opinions on this matter. I’m skeptical of the claim of 18 hp, I doubt the impact on airflow is that significant. I have no hard evidence for this though, so if there are before/after dyno sheets that show a noticeable improvement it’d be cool to see them posted here. There was a thread on here a little while ago that basically universally bashed the intake spacers as a waste of money but I don’t remember many of those people having dyno evidence to back up their negative claims.
EDIT: This is the thread I was referring to. https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...pacer-kit.html |

The intake box spacers with green filters gave me more around 7whp gain. I did see one pull with 10whp but that was only one pull. I was seeing 5-7whp increase consistently. This was with an 82mm tb.

I got them spacers from VRP with 82TB and a pair of 8 years old K&N filters. Butt dyno can’t tell any difference. Just make sure your drop in filters goes on top of em spacers and NOT below. If you’re running 82TB, your SL55 Y pipe needs minor rigging to clamps down to airbox like a 3-5” hose clamp due to the elevated boxes. Also your engine cover won’t fit snugly.
I’d be willing to sell mine if anyone interested! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...831267e5c.jpeg |
Ordered a set of k and n 33-2181 filters; gonna pair them with these, was reading reviews on green airband bmc wasn’t impressed so went with the original ones haha. Will be interesting to see if these make a difference with a stock TB

I think ruining my engine bay look would be the only thing holding me back from trying any types of spacers haha. Maybe if you did both the intake AND intake manifold spacers you could make everything fit together nicely? Might need to craft some 1/2" extensions on the engine cover clips or something?

yea I thought that too, but from the looks, it looks kinda stockish, the raising the engine covers is a good idea too, but honestly , 150 bucks for a tested as said above 12whp sounds pretty good to me haha

Das said on average 5-7 HP, 10 was the very most he saw but that was with both the risers and the green filters, which item gets the credit?!?

I think it depends on the area and roads but I have had mine for a few hundred miles and loving them so far. Weren’t very oily like K&N’s. I swear I hear the slightest whine from the supercharger now at WOT close to redline as compared to before but maybe it’s just placebo.

how much does those green filter cost and where can you order them?
You just need to enter your car info on find a filter at the top of the page. Interesting thing is that there is a filter for USA cars and Non USA cars. Looks to be the same part number though. Also check out the thread below if you haven't already. https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ted-equal.html |
You spent $150 on spacer and $100 on “K&N” filters, well, put those $250 and a few hundred more and you can have a larger TB that get the sure thing instead of guessing/hoping for 5-7hp. Just a thought...😀

I always went K&N before but heard a lot of people don’t like them for the M113K’s and I wanted something different. |
I love my greens they made a noticable difference over my K&Ns
|
From what I have seen in my own intake and all other pics, I would summarize as follows:
When using K&N or Greens, no need for spacers, as these filters are not as tall as the originals and therefore automatically open up the intake. But they only work for people who accept the idea of oiled filters! With stock filters the spacers might actually give an advantage. Any dyno sheets to support this? BR, Tadek |
