E55 Wagon - steer clear!

Recently I came across an E55 wagon for sale on a craigslist, which has since been removed but I believe is still for sale. I figure there are so few of these someone else must have also dealt with him and his shady selling tactics. Below is a picture of said wagon. The VIN is WDBUH76J65A756516. Basically the owner played dumb about the history of the car and I asked about its service history he said it was perfect. When I inspected it and noticed poor fitment of the hood and bumper and evidence that the front bumper, fenders, hood, roof, trunk and rear bumper had been repainted then some more of the story came out. He said he repainted the rear bumper for cosmetic reasons. And he didn't know about any of the other parts being repainted but he suspected there may have been an accident from previous owner but he never knew for sure. I still don't think its the whole truth the guy has been super shady about the history of the car. Similar things happened about the mechanical parts. It has an aftermarket intercooler which I have only ever seen installed in conjunction with a smaller pulley and or other parts. but the guy claims the previous owner sold him an eurocharged kit 2 weeks after he bought the car from its previous owner, and that he only ever installed the intercooler and water pump and sold the pulley. However the inspection of the vehicle revealed that the ECU definitely has been flashed previously. This guy is the 8th owner of this E55 wagon so it has been passed around a bunch. I know it was sold to the 7th owner in 2014 on EBAY for 26K. Anyone know of any other history of this particular wagon? I suspect it has been driven hard and put away wet so to speak.

Yea that's what I thought at first too even with the smashed up front lip. There is a big scratch on driver fender that the owner said could be fixed without paint work but it definitely can't it goes through the clear coat into the color.

Does Carfax bring up anything? If really interested, can an M-B dealer print out the service history?

how would you know the ECU was flashed without specific tools that are looking for that information?

not saying this or that, but with any purchase always request a carfax and service history.

Good point, Mercedes service department should be able to bring up a VMI using the vin.

Also you can use "mycarfax" to see service history. It will only really tell you the date and sometimes the mileage it as in for service at either the dealer or indy shop. Most of the time it will not list what service was done. I use this to get a feel of the cars past service history. If I like what I see I will spend money oh carfax and other vehicle history lookups.

I had it at a shop who specializes in Mercedes he scanned ecu and went through the car top to bottom. It also had some can bus errors stored in the system for the infotainment system but wasn't affecting functionality. It was a thorough PPI. It wasn't a Mercedes dealership though so I didn't get a VMI. The carfax just lists pretty standard items. Nothing out of the ordinary but not a whole lot of information. Doesn't even have the the rear bumper respray which he admitted he had done. I've learned never to trust carfax

Did we even get the E-55 wagon here in the states?
I know that Canada did... Japan did. They are being imported into Canada from Japan with regularity.
I've seen a lot worse OP.

Yes, they're uncommon. In 2005 there were only 129 wagons sold in the US. Clean ones pull good money because they're quite rare. Not R63 rare, but rare. Less than 200 of the R63 were sold in the US during their one year run.

It's an E55. If the transmission is good and it has a good compression test and oil analysis what's the problem? You could argue its history merits a huge price drop and pick up a super wagon on the cheap and enjoy the hell out of it. And even with its history, if you keep it long enough you'll make money on the deal.

E55 AMG Wagon
Hello. I am the owner of this wagon. It has come to my attention that mr. PNW2nr88 started a thread about my vehicle. Mr. PNW2nr88 did not inspect my vehicle himself and instead used 3rd party Mercedes shop that I happened to use before. To keep it short, I ended up having other shop fix their work. What mr. PNW2nr88 forgot to mention is in the last couple weeks he made me 5 offers ranging from 20k to 23.5k. All 5 were declined. And price is not the reason. The reason is his attitude. Another interesting fact is this thread started an hour after I declined his 5th offer and mentioned my intention to list my vehicle through BaT. I hope mr. PNW2nr88 stops blackmailing and spreading information he can not confirm before he makes a fool out of himself as I have no problem posting screenshots of our email conversations in this thread. Thank you.

I think E55bum is a bit confused. I would love to see him post some pictures of our email conversation... He mentioned to me that he was going to post the car on BAT on April 16th and I made 2 offers after that in addition to suggesting that BAT might not be best because they take a 5% cut from the buyer so that's 5% that he is less likely to see. I did make this post after he rejected my last offer because I was done offering more and more. And since I was done I figured I would share my experience with the seller and the condition of the vehicle so that no one else would be blindsided by him trying to pass off this car as in better condition than it is. It's not blackmail of any sort. And I don't see why you are concerned since you said you had a buyer who was picking it up this weekend...
Here is some of our conversation from after the PPI till the end: (I am the red dash. to follow chronologically start at the bottom, I couldn't figure out a way to display chain top down)

If the car is in such a bad condition as you say it is, why did you keep offering more and more money?

Because I wanted to be done with my car hunt. I was willing to be flexible and spend more than the car was worth to make it happen. Then I reached the upper limit of what I was willing to offer and the end of dealing with you as an individual.

This is an odd little dispute.. I've ignored offers from prospective buyers based on things like not being an enthusiast of the brand or "just need a school car" etc, but If a current MB owner was willing to buy my MB and had the money, why say no??? Do you want to sell the thing or not?

Agreed, get rid of this this thread.

What happened to X amount is my number? My E63 is for sale, I know what I'll take for it. Ask me my number and I'll tell you. If you don't like it, don't buy it. All this negotiating **** people want to do is just a waste of time.

That works as long as long as the seller doesn't keep changing his number. Just out of curiosity what would you take for your E63?
