MB quality slips
Last 2 sentences of the article:
Since their 1998 linkup with Chrysler, executives at Daimler have boasted about how Mercedes-Benz would show its poor American cousin how to build more dependable and desirable vehicles.
But Chrysler and its Dodge, Jeep and now-defunct Plymouth brands all out-ranked Mercedes, which had 327 problems per 100 vehicles, up from 318 problems in last year's survey.

No one buys a Mercedes for reliability anymore. Hell, when we drove our SL home my dad muttered "Might as well go back to the dealer now!" before we got into the driveway.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
MB is in the top ten for the entire model line overall.
20% decrease in reported problems over last year.
MB is now above the industry average overall and above the luxury brand average. MB is the top ranked German model line.
The E-class and M-class, which is our bread and butter, both improved dramatically. E-class 37% improvement over 2003. ML had a 32% reduction in reported problems compared to 2003 and is now the 2nd highest ranked "entry luxury SUV" (behind you know who).
While MB is proud of this, they make no bones about the fact they are not satisfied yet.

Porsche went from first to just about last in one year. Must be the Cayenne!
Sorry, but I must correct you. The 302 is Ford, the 327 is Chevy. Cubic inches that is!

There is nnnoooo way ford gets better numbers than MB!!! I used to have ford Expedition which was parked at repair shop at least once every 2 months for 3 years. Since I got '03 e320, only problem I've had was a sunroof (already 30k miles on it) In my opinion jdpower is one big b/s!!!! I don't know where they get their statistics from, but ain't right to me.
