vibrations

When accelerated to around 70 miles/hr, I had some vibrations and the CEL flashing for a minute or so and then stays still. I also had some vibration at idle. What do I need to check? Transmission service and spark plugs were done at 60k, it now has 90k miles.

The CEL & vibration is on and off. When the vibration is on, I checked it with D, R, & N and the vibration was the same, so I guess it's not the tranny/engine mount problem. This morning, everything is back to normal. I did check for oil level and loose hoses but did not notice any thing abnormal.

Did you pull any codes regarding the CEL?

I believe a flashing CEL is indicative of a misfire, which would make sense with the vibrations you feel sometimes. Spark plugs shouldn’t be bad yet after 30k I wouldn’t think, but maybe plug wires or coil packs? Sounds like a misfire to me. Also, unless the codes were fully cleared manually, they should be stored so that you can see them even when the CEL is off

This makes sense. Now I remember that the mechanic had dropped 1 of the coil packs bolt down into the engine bay and he could not locate. I will have to reorder the bolts and taking care of this. It's good new, not that bad at all.

You nailed it in the head. CEL came back and it was ignition coils error. So am replacing them this morning. It's simple job. Unfortunately, I broke the tip plastic on 1 of them and I can't remove all the broken plastic in the connector so now I can't insert the new ignition. Can this plastic connector be replace easily? It has all the wires and I just don't know how to remove it. Please help!

Take a pic if you can. Are you talking about the clips at the top of the coils up near the air boxes? Those break a lot, at least 3 of mine are broken and the plugs sit in tight enough without them but we might not be thinking of the same thing.

Error code read: P0302: Cylinder 2 misfire detected. P0352 Ignition Coil B Primary/Secondary Circuit.

Is cylinder 2 the 2nd one from the front, passenger side? This was the one missing 1 bolt that I have mentioned. I replaced the whole set of ignition coils. I've been driving for .5 hr but the CEL is still there. I guess will take some time for it to reset, correct? I replaced the spark plugs 30K miles ago, if the CEL is not clear the next few day, I guess I need to replace the spark plug on cylinder 2 again?

I am talking about the plug that connects to the ignition coil. Anyways, I managed to remove all the broken plastic inside and was able to connect to the new ignition coil. I hope it will not lose the connection.

I wouldnt sweat it a few clips on my are broken and they work fine. Just make sure they're on snug the rubber prongs should hold them in place
Try unplugging your battery for an hour hopefully itll clear your cel?

CEL is clear now. It runs smoothly and accelerates well. Yes you are right, it's a 12 years old cars, broken clips are expected. Thank you guys.

This is what I've read: "In a coil-on-plug ignition system, if only one coil fails, you need only replace the faulty coil. Remaining functioning coils can be left in place."

Only 1 of the coils was bad but I replaced the whole set, kinda expensive, $60 a piece. Did I waste $$$?

It is only necessary to replace the faulty coil but it’s not necessarily a waste of money, you can look at it as preventative maintenance.

Pull the small metal key out of the key fob, there is a key slot by the trunk handle above the license plate where you can manually pop the trunk. Turn the key and squeeze the handle while the key is still turned, you will have to squeeze the handle pretty hard. Don’t worry, you won’t break it. If it’s not opening when the handle is squeezed all the way, turn the key the other way and do it again.

Thank you so much for your help. I did that and was able to jump charge it. Battery dead without any warning.

I bought a new battery at MB dealership for $275.when I got home, check the price found out the range is around $120 - $140. What a rip off !
