Ticking noise coming from engine
Hi everyone, I recently changed my engine oil this week. After finishing I went to turn my car on and noticed a loud ticking noise coming from the driver side valve cover area. After a while it also started making that noise on the passenger side. Any information where to start or what it could be will be greatly appreciated. I will try and upload a video I took of the ticking noise. Thank you!

Yes, I did put a different oil grade. But right away I went back to Mobil 1 0-40W for Europeans.

You’re probably going down a rabbit hole with a noisy M113k. They’re known to have pretty noisy valvetrains and I’m not sure anyone could pin point anything. Just enjoy it unless it’s something that’s really noticeable or affecting the car in any way, then take a deeper dive.

I used Walmart oil synthetic, only because I was going to do a coolant flush and decided to do the same for the oil.i was just using it to run it through and then replace it.

I just saw the oil level warning on my dash. Could it be because I’m low on oil? I did put 9 quarts on Mobil 1. Thank you all for taking the time to respond.

Yes that would seem to indicate low oil lol, do you have the dipstick? If not, I would pull the drain plug and see what comes out to make sure your oil level sensor is correct. You don’t want to be running the car too much if the dash warning came on, if my mind isn’t failing me it comes on when you’re like 1.5 qts or more too low.

If it's louder underneath the car front drivers side, it's the oil pump chain. the spring gets weak with age. If you drain the front sump last, you will see little flakes of aluminium in the pan. Easy to see in a black pan.

Lifter tick maybe. Have you topped up the oil or at least manually checked the level? Honestly, these engines are very noisy as others have mentioned. Unless it just started or got noticeably louder, you’re probably not going to get anywhere with it.

If it's louder up top, most likely suspect is a deflated lifter. Sometimes an Italian tuneup will reinflate it and if the noise gets reduced and go away, then ypu can prettymuch pinpoint a lifter.
