Hey fellas. I've got an issue I wish to sort out on my own if possible. The issue is, sometimes when I reach for my seatbelt on the driver side, it jams and won't seem to reel out, even using light and gentle force in attempts to pull it out.
Usually to fix this I shut the engine off, use my wife's key to turn on the ignition again, then I am able to pull the seatbelt out normally. But if I don't have that other key, I'd pribably be seatbelt-lessly driving.
However, I'm not betting it's the smart key... or is it?
Does anyone else have a similar problem? Thanks in advance.

I think the key has something to do with the seatbelt locking/unlocking. Example, when I'm driving the w220, I get in, sit and put the seatbelt on, then i start the car. When I turn the ignition over, I can feel the seatbelt pull back a little, tightening itself. I'm not sure if this is on the w221 as well (i'm pretty sure it is). Possibly that mechanism has gone bad?

I suggest that you it to your dealer.
Seatbelts, as a required piece of safety equipment, should be warranted for the life of the car. There should be no question on replacing it if defective.
