“Restomod”?

I know my car is a 2007 E63 which is not that old in terms of restomod. However, I had a rental with Apple car play and I thought it was the coolest thing to have. Anyone have any tips on restomodding the outdated headunit but retaining the look? I’ve seen some low cost Asian made head units that look good but have zero reviews. Any feedback would be great.

Subscribing. I've seen many of the Android head units, but they don't truly maintain the OEM functionality. If you read the fine print on many of them, you lose the ability to fade the sound from front to back or left to right. I forget which one. But it may be a good solution for many.

I'm looking for something where I can preserve my OEM headunit and just ADD Apple Carplay. However, there doesn't seem the be anything out there yet. I've read some things about *******, but I am wary of their claims.

If you find anything, please post here. Thanks!

In the details it states that you will lose the ability to fade the sound from front to back. That may not be a big deal though.

With the Avin, it says the Car Play is wireless, is that for real? Also, do you really need their GPS option or the 6m cable for stock Nav? Starting with the $398 price tag...Which option(s) did you chose? And what you recommend?

Sorry for the 1000 questionnaires.
