Hello Everyone! I am new to this website and am also looking into purchasing a w211 AMG as a daily driver. The two options right now are an 07 E63 or a 03-06 E55. I’ve done some research but would like some feedback from actual car owners as well. What kind of issues are common with these vehicles and what are things I should ask/look out for when buying these vehicles from a dealer or private seller? Thank you for your time

Stay as far away from the 63's as you can. https://www.jacobregarlaw.com/blog/2...on-for-the-m1/

Type E55 common problems or issues into Google followed by "site:mbworld.org" and you will have all the reading you need. Search E55 airmatic, SBC, fuel pumps fuel smell, intercooler pump. After that come back with any specific questions.

The E63 issues are over exaggerated, not all of these cars suffered from the head bolt issues. I've owned three AMGs with the M156 engine, and absolutely no issues whatsoever.
Most E55 owners will tell you this, and they never even owned a E63. But this issue is fixable, but not exactly cheap.
  1. Head bolts, but only a very small percentage of the total cars made.
  2. Overhead Cams wear along the lobes, along with valve tappets.
