E63 tire issues

Hi all,

New to the forum and need some input. I have a 2018 E63 with around 13k miles. Was told during 10k maintenance that all is well. I recently ran over a nail and had to replace a tire. I have the wheel and tire package so this wasn't an issue. Unfortunately, I was told by the dealership that all tires have "severe" wear and need to be replaced. I was a bit incredulous because I have only driven 13k miles and have taken excellent care of the car. I was also told that the tire car package won't cover replacement for worn tires. This seems like a scam to me. A tire should last more than 13k miles in my opinion. Any input or advice?

Wrong forum...this is the E63 forum for 2004-2009 model years.

Performance tires can need replacement at 13k

Depends on car, power level, tire and driving style. I would be amazed to get 13k miles from my rears with the E55. I presume your car is AWD. Post some pics of tread if you want opinions and measure it across the tire including the edges.

Do you drive your car aggressively? If yes, then 13k is reasonable life out of them. If you drive conservatively, 20k is reasonable. This is not a Honda - you will not get 40-60k miles of life out of a tire with the torque your car produces.

You are correct, wheel & tire warranties only covers the car for damages incurred from nails, screws, bent wheels due to potholes and curb rash. They don't cover worn out tires, as tires are a wear & tear item.
Might want to have a 4 wheel alignment done, to address your wear issue. Tires should last at least 20K, some tires have a 50-60K mile warranty. But typically performance cars tires do not last long.

I bought a new set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 back in 2017 for my 07 E63, and I just replaced both rear tires last month, as the old tires were down to 2/32 on the inside.
Since are cars have independent rear suspension we have negative camber. So the rear tires will wear more on the inside than the outside edges. The front tires are at 6/32 so they should last another 2 years.
