In the arm rest. These 2 buttons don't seem to do anything.

These two buttons to my knowledge only works for vehicles equipped with TeleAid. A form of Concierge service that Mercedes came out with during that time.
Of course now days, you can bring this information up on the vehicles display. But back then, I just connected you to an MB operator on the phone.

Those are for the teleaid system (not optional in the US as far as I know). The i-call (information) button is for concierge services and the wrench button is to call roadside assistance. You need a paid subscription for them to work and even if you wanted it, the cellular phone system these old cars use is no longer operational in this country so you're out of luck.

Even the newest MBs still have these buttons for the newer mbrace or mbconnect systems but they also added a third 'SOS' button for emergency help.

The last time I used Teleaid was roughly three years ago for roadside assistance. I did not have a subscription, was out in the middle of tim-buck-two-Missouri, and did not have a bluetooth puck to connect my phone with. The person I spoke with from Mercedes or whomever their contractor is, was very helpful and knowledgeable. They got me hooked up with a flatbed hauler as fast as it could get to my location, hauled it to the nearest city with a competent MB dealership two hours away, all free of charge.

Perhaps things have changed since then? /shrug
