M113K Piston ring set alternatives?

With each OEM set (pn 1130301224) coming in at $70-$120 EACH depending on vendor AND on backorder is anyone aware of an alternatives?

If you are using stock bores (no sleeves) and pistons then you want OEM rings. No other option is worth considering. The alusil cylinder walls work great with stock pistons and rings and seem to be destroyed by anything else. But why do you need new rings? Rings don't tend to fail in these engines...

No I really dont want OEM rings at $70 to $120 PER PISTON, and since they are on backorder apparently Merc doesnt want me to have them either... which is/was the reason for seeking out possible alternatives. When a set 8 rings alone approaches $1K AND availability is an issue the cost-benefit analysis suddenly turns <Weistec Engineering M113K Forged Pistons

If they are not available from the usual players, there are several ring makers that will make anything you want, custom, but I have not seen or heard a single success story of anyone using anything but stock pistons and rings in the stock block. There are plenty of failure stories, if you search a bit. Now, if you want to sleeve the block and install forged pistons, that's a whole different story: that has been done many times with good results. Of course, that's overkill, and an unnecessary risk, unless you are planning a pretty serious build.

But why on earth do you want to replace rings? These bottom ends last forever unless you do something to them (detonation will destroy the cast hyperutectic pistons very easily). Anything that damaged the relatively hard rings would almost certainly destroy the soft aluminum cylinder wall as well, and that can't be reliably fixed short of sleeving the block. You can't hone an alusil bore...
