DAMN Pothole! Cracked my OEM Wheel! Replica Wheels fitment?
Damn!! hit a pothole yesterday and cracked my OEM front wheel on my 2004 w211 amg. I saw some replica wheels online for only $109 so i emailed the company to check fitment. They could not guarantee fitment on the AMG vehicles due to the size of the brake/calipers. the hub size they provided me seems like it should fit though so i am little confused. They provided me with the following specs which to me seems like it should fit. Does anyone have any experience with the fitment of using a replica wheel?
The specs for the replica wheel:
Wheel Size: 18x8
Wheel Offset 35
Rear Wheel Size 18x9
Rear Wheel Offset 35
Bolt Pattern 5-112
Hub Size 66.56

I may be totally wrong, but I'd bet that an aftermarket wheel has a (notably) different weight from the factory wheel. I'm not sure how that would affect the steering. May be safer to spend a little more for a reconditioned OEM wheel?

I have an older Saab Viggen that I use as my daily. The wheels are known to be soft so I tried some aftermarket wheels. The finish chips and peels and the weights are all over the place. One wheel was so bad it couldn't be balanced so the distributor just said keep it we will send you another. Bought an OEM and no issues. I buy OEM if I can or go with a higher dollar custom wheel.

From what i heard here there should be one serious replica manufacturer in Canada. You might have som luck there, otherwise don't buy replica wheels from no name companies. I would get a nice used amg wheel or a set of aftermarket wheels from a good brand.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I have been looking for an OEM wheel online and only found remanufactured ones, many with cracks repaired, at around $400. I have seen entire sets sell for around $600 on craigslist so i will keep my eyes out for an OEM set

I don't know about shipping cost & delivery time to the US but nice AMG/Brabus/Carlsson sets are common on ebay.de

Sorry to hear about that... I actually have an OEM front wheel that Mercedes sent me when I purchased a CPO vehicle with a curbed wheel. If interested let me know. I guess I can do $300 shipped as the sucker is heavy. Stay away from replica wheels though.

That stinks. Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Found a scratched up set of OEM E55 wheels by placing a WTB ad on here and plan to refinish them once they arrive. I also shopped replicas but came to the same conclusion after seeing similar comments about quality, weight, etc. in other threads.

And it's even worse with bigger wheels and tires. I have 19's so isn't isn't too bad, and I have a decent sidewall height.
But 20's and larger are prone to bent or cracked wheels. A little story, I had 18" low profiles on my 03 Mini Cooper S.
And I cracked both front wheels, I had them welded up, but the next hole I hit, the welds re-fractured.
So I ended up buying all new wheels. And avoided potholes like the plaque.

The offsets are not the same as the stock E55 wheels. Should be 30 front and 39 rear. Stock E55 wheels should be really easy to find. I have a set but I'm up in Canada haha

Well, this is a good time for you to upgrade to a nice set of aftermarket wheels. There are many to choose from.
