Well, I had the car in last week and as I mentioned here told the dealer that the car had stalled 2 times since i had the car. No check engine light came on. Just died and started right up. When I had it in they told me that an error code came up (tranny related) that they had to check to decipher and to come back. I brought it back and the paperwork said the infamous "no problem found". He was at lunch when I picked the car up the other day so I called him today to ask what was going on. Last week you got an error code, then this week no problem found. He said there was nothing wrong and just had to reset the computer. I told him that I will be driving to Phila. and back to L.I. next Thrus. and turning around and driving to Ohio on Friday. I don't need this thing breaking down on the road (especially with the wife and kids. I can hear my wife now"...look what you get for your 85K"). He assured me I would have no problem. I asked him would you promise me, and he started to laugh and said never promise with these cars! He told me that they had heard that some of the Gasoline in the NY metro area has a higher % of whatever crap that's put in the gas and maybe some fuel additive would help? What do you think? I only use 93 octane.

Fuel additive is not going to help solve your problem.Originally Posted by cte430

If your car had died because of a fuel issue, it definitely would have thrown a code, probably a misfire first.
You need to make sure he is clearing out all the old codes; if it happens again, you need to check the codes right away with no old codes distorting the view.
If no codes ever show up, then it's probably some electrical gremlin, and if they can't fix it, you might have grounds for a lemon law case (if you have that kind of consumer protection there).
