E63 Winter Setup
Hey gang,
Been enjoying my 2007 E63 all summer long on my Yokohama Advan Summer tires. Now I am headed on a holiday trip to Vancouver with my wife from LA.
Knowing that we are going to likely hit some powder either on the way there or back, I want to be prepared. Looking to get snow tires and hopefully find some steel rims that fit the car.
Thinking of getting a roofrack to transport the tires on the roof so I can use my Summer tires until we hit the PNW.
Any suggestions on where to start that won't break the bank, as these will likely just be a one use deal.
Was toying the idea of snow tires out back, and chains up front.. but that seems like a gamble.
I'm coming from AWD Land Rovers in the North East, so this is a little bit new for me.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, all depends on the size rims you go with but I would run the same size tires all the way around so you can rotate for wear for future winter's. Also go with a skinnier tire width. I run Pirelli SottoZero 3 and have never had a problem on the factory AMG wheels on my CLS 55 work the front tire size on all 4 corners. Given my wheels are 19" it really limited my choices. Blizzaks after great as are continental Conti SI's. Hope this helps and safe travels.

Hakepelitta Nokian Tires are the best winter tire
Hakepelitta Nokian Tires are the best winter tire from Finland. Good grip in snow and excellent driving. I use them as my second set of winter tires on a second set of OEM rims.
My tire mechanic uses them on HIS WIFE'S car for winter driving in Ann Arbor, MI. and he has the choice of tires of any brand and you know they must be good in that he outfits his wife's
car with these Finnish tires. ;-)

Thanks! I see that we should be running 245/40R18 all around for winter setup

Thinking about just putting on the Blizzaks and driving all the way there with them. Going to do some research on this option since it's going to be a ton of driving on drier roads.
W Land Rovers it's easy to throw four tires on the roof and head off... not so much w Sedans.
Thanks hguys.

One last question.
Will I need to buy narrower rims for the back? If the manual recommends 245/40/R18 all around, would I be able to squeeze that size on the rear rim?
