M113K Injector Upgrade
Dear all,
I‘d like to ask for some longterm experience and info from vehicle owners running larger than stock injectors on their M113K engines.
Multiple vendors offer 550cc (I assume they are all 0280158117) 630cc (probably all 0280158298) injectors. There are a few other injectors like 590cc from Porsche GT3 RS (0280158123). And then of course the SLR injectors (0280156148).
While I have no doubt that the SLR injectors work great, I have serious doubts about the others. All of them require the connector to be perpendicular to the engine axis. This is just not possible on the m113k.
So instead of the spray being aimed at the intake valves, the spray will just hit the walls with all other mentioned injectors. As they also have non symmetric spray / offset angle, most fuel will go through only one valve.
I guess this may not be an issue at WOT, but what about idle, cruise speeds, etc.?
No issues with rough idle, emissions tests?
No coking/deposits on the valve that does not get the fuel?
Maybe I am overly pessimistic and concerned, but it seems only the SLR injectors are a reasonably good fit. All others just less than optimum.
Anyone ever heard of 0280156453 / 680cc injectors. I cannot find any data on them.
best regards,
Tadek

My engine is completely stock now apart from 83mm pulley.
Before it leaves the garage for next season it will have 76mm pulley, BWK, secondary hex, superflo pump, longtubes with cats, looped rail, whatever injectors I decide to buy, corresponding tune from RaceIQ, TCU tune from race IQ.

Talk to Tony at RaceIQ before you buy injectors. I was running stock injectors with a similar setup, per his recommendation and I had no problems.

And to clarify again for everybody, I am not concerned about flow rates and do not want to discuss them. Yes, of course a 550cc injector flow rate will work well with a corresponding tune.
But will the totally wrong spray orientation of a 0280158117 injector work on a M113 engine in terms of cold start, emissions, idle, low load cruise, and robustness regarding deposits and coking in the long term? Who has 50k or more on their high flow injectors with no problems and can share their experience?
Best regards,
Tadek

My 550's drove like stock just like my 630's as of now. Daily driven, raced and passed Emissions. AFR was always dead nuts to the stock tune afr numbers while driving normal but of course the o2 sensors are keeping things nice and clean so no worry's there. I really need to bump up to 750's as my injector duty cycle is just about maxed out but don't know what the drivability change will be if any.
550 bosch injectors would probably work out for you just fine as many people have run them with great success with many miles...plus you can grow with them in the future.

I'd be curious who offers that service. I didn't think that was possible. I have noticed that the MPG calculation using the Torque app is much closer to my actual hand calculated MPG.

My work colleague who tunes in his free time did it on my old Volvo on Motronic 4.4. I assume he could fo it on my AMG, if my AMG was in Germany. He does it all!

SICAMG, thanks for your reply. That at least makes me more comfortable!

Mpg correction is something that can be changed with a Star diagnostic system, I think even the barebones system at the dealership can handle this. So if it’s a huge issue for you, spend one hour labor time for the programming, a vacuum /carwash and probably a free loaner car as well

I have STAR/Developer and I cant find MPG Correction for the dash I have looked everywhere.
Do you know where it is?

not off of the top of my head, but I’ve seen the menu for something along the lines of “fuel consumption compensation” a bunch of times while messing around in various menus

i wouldn’t be surprised to find it in central gateway module maybe, something to do with variant coding. I’ve only tried at least 15 times to initialize my $25 cgw module for my e500 so maybe that’s why it’s ingrained in my brain about seeing the compensation options

i know its kind of an old thread, however , i installed the 630cc injectors and was not able to tune them due to some issues with the country i live in at the moment so i ended up installing the stock injectors again.
i can read injector duty cycle from HP tuners on American cars . however i don't know how to read it from the ECU of the 113k .. any idea how?
i was thinking about the multimeter which has duty cycle but i'm not sure if that would work ...
