Steering Wheel Gremlin on my 07 E63

Last year I changed out my OEM steering wheel for this custom wheel, and lately I've been having some minor issues. Often times the up and down arrows, and volume buttons will not function along with the horn.
I can manage to cycle thru functions using the menu buttons, but that's it. I had the car scanned by my tech at Benz Elite Automotive, and the only fault it revealed was a defective heated passenger side mirror.
Which will be replaced tomorrow. They did manage to reset it, and all was good for that day, until I started fiddling with it, and now it's weird again.
Most members would say it's the Steering Angle Sensor Module, well that was replaced last year as well, before I had the new wheel installed. And it worked fine with the OEM wheel.
Tomorrow, I'm having them switch out the current buttons for the old, check the connections inside the wheel, change the interface card and add die electric grease to all the contacts.
Hopefully, that will fix the issue. As I don't want to switch back to the OEM. Hell, I will have everything from the OEM switch over to the custom wheel. Just for peace of mind.

Well, when I visited the shop last Friday, everything was working as it should. I had my passenger side mirror glass replaced, as the previous mirror heating element stopped working. And I also had them flush the power steering fluid, and added synthetic fluid. It seems like my gremlins have returned this morning, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. During my next day off, I will have to swing by the shop so that it can be scanned. Does anyone have any speculation of what it might be?

Like you mentioned, could just be the electrical plate the buttons are attached to, which is replaceable (I think). Maybe when taking it apart you can spot the issue. I switched out my airbag cover for a nice upgraded leather one from the same guy you got yours from; very easy to do with transferring over the buttons and plate.

anomadtoo,

I think your right, it might be the connections. On my next visit, I will have them change out all the electrical components inside the new steering wheel, with the old steering wheel parts that always worked. i.e. the steering wheel function buttons, the electrical connector plate and interface that everything plugs into, which then connects to the clock spring. I truly belief that it's a connection issue, that would explain why it works sometimes and sometimes not.
