Went to dealership for the SBC extended warranty. Had the " Brakes- visit workshop " warning. Dealer spent 45 minutes on car and told me the SBC pump is good. They continued for another 2 hours and said they need more time to figure it out. I told them to wrap it up bc now they wanted to charge me for diagnosis.
What else can cause this issue? I received car like this... previous owner stated that he just did the brake pads..

There's a wear sensor pushed into one of the pads front and back. Two little bare copper wires coming out the top. If they're damaged or missing it breaks the circuit and sets off that message. Hopefully it's that simple and the dealership guy is just missing some practical knowledge.

Was it the red warning on the dash or did it just say to visit the workshop? If the latter, I'd fully agree with StarvingArtist.

What car is it? You just have the C230 listed in your profile.

It's just the regular " Brake Service- visit workshop soon" warning. I just can't believe that the dealership didn't think to check if the brake sensors were bad or missing. They said after over 2 hours they couldn't figure it out...
As soon as I get some nice weather here I will check for the sensors..thank you.
And ty for reminding me to update my profile. Sold the C230, and got the E55 about 3 weeks ago

I said "hopefully".
It's always good to check the basics of a complicated system yourself.

Well checked for the brake pad sensors. They are there and intact. The passenger side looks different. The wires do not go across to the opposite side of pad, but I could see no other place where it would attach
