Rear Seat Leg Room, W210 vs W211...

Hello all,

I looked at another W211 E55 on Monday, and I noticed that the rear seat looked a LOT smaller? It had almost as much leg room as my 2-door M3! My W210 E55 had quite a bit of legroom compared to this car, but according to edmunds.com it's only 1/2 inch less?

I'm a big guy, 6'4" with long legs, and I'm wondering if not having the seat adjusted perfectly was the reason, or is the back really that small? I pushed the seat up a little bit, and tried adjusting it to where I usually would sit (although that usually takes some time with me, and in the end where I had it this time may be too far back)

Any other taller folks here somewhat dissatisfied with the room in the rear seat of the E55? I'm hoping it seemed small just because the seat was too far back... even though I had the seat in my W210 almost all the way back and still had plenty of room to sit myself behind the seat when I had it that way (meaning, one 6'4" guy could sit in the front, and another directly behind him and would still be comfy)

This isn't going to deter me from getting the car, just curious

Regards,

Marcus

Agreed, W211 rear seat is MUCH smaller than W210. Kinda bugged me because I was moving up from a C-class (C43) and the main reason was to get more backseat room.

I think because the E-class has so many features now, that if the rear seat were too big, it would cut into S-class sales.

It seems the huge trunk is where the rear seat room went...

I see what you are saying schorchie, but the room was that of a C-Class!! My father has an '03 S and let me tell you, the difference in legroom is night and day between his car and the W211. The W210 had a good balance between the two, now it seems the W211 is barely better than the C-Class... kind of a bummer, but I'll just have to make due

I'm 6'3 and am also dissapointed. The seat does move very far back, and i can be relatively comfortable moving it up a bit, but it does not have the feel of a full size sedan. trunk space is a waste, when contrasting against rear seat room.

I also had a W210 and agree the W211 is tighter in the back. That being said, I think it's still much roomier than the C.

The W210 used to be much roomier than the E39 (BMW preivous 5 series), now the W211 and E60 have about the same amount of rear space.
