2007 E63 AMG Whistle noise
The PCV is a pain in the *** to replace if you go the route of removing the intake manifold.
If you do remove the intake manifold I'd also suggest purchasing the following:
-Intake manifold gasket (I have a spare, I can send at the cost of shipping)
- Injector O-Rings tops and bottoms, since these have likely aged and it's a good time to do them
- Inspect and clean the injectors, even if just topical
- New PCV Valve
- New intake manifold bolts, since they are once use super light aluminum bolts that distort after you take them back out
Some other things to look at since you'll have access:
- Replace the 4 filters in the intake
- Replace Cabin filter
- Replace spark plugs
- Clean the base of the intake manifold (tons of dirt collects here)
- Clean the intake manifold plenums, these get full of carbon and oil esp when the PCV goes.
All in it's about a 2hr job, just need to be careful... I had to rebuild my intake manifold since the PCV screw broke off and some misc plastics went into the manifold. I got mine rebuilt by RMT and it cost me a pretty penny, but they rebuild with metal internals and provided all new sensors etc on the manifold.
Good luck and keep us updated.
