Possible to recode ignition switch?
Does anyone know if it’s possible to recode/reprogram the ignition switch so that old keys will no longer work with it? I bought an 03 E55 AMG not too long ago and wanted to ensure that I have the only working keys for the car since the car had a few previous owners before me. Is this something that the dealer can take care of? If not, would buying a used ignition switch and programming my current keys to it solve that problem?

This place is a joke.
Yes the dealer can block any keys not in your possession. The metal blades can still be used to open the car, however. You cannot buy a used ignition switch, it is vin locked to the previous car.
