I absolutely agree that the 8HP would be a major upgrade upon the old five speed.

1. An adapter plate may be needed. Can't find solid information on this so far, but I have found adapter plates for mounting a BMW N54/55 transmission (BMW uses the 8HP on that engine) to a M113K. I think it's probably possible, but would need more research to figure it out.
2. Probably would need a custom/modified drive shaft of some variety, as I doubt the overall length of the two transmissions is identical, though I can't find any dimensions info on either so far.
3. Would likely need to adapt the trans mounts somehow.
4. Would need a controller for the new transmission. Lots of good options there for the 8HP. Not 100% sure about integration with factory controls though.
From there, there would be a good bit of work integrating everything, but nothing that isn't possible in my estimation. Anyone have any thoughts on my crazy idea?
I have e55 amg. W211
I mounted 8hp70 and i am driving it for 4 months now.
I used ioCan. Principle is same as Cantcu but this one supports Mercedes.
Only thing not working yet is torque reduction.
But adam will figure that out and get it to work as well.
Gearbox is n57 8hp70 but jaguar 3.0 8bp70 would work as well. Dodge 8hp70 would work as well
Software i am driving is x5 50i software.
Shifter i use is f10 bmw. But you could use original Mercedes.
Dashboard works fully.
Left digit is gear gives P R N 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Right digit gives E C S R and M
Eco +. Comfort sport and sport plus gives R
If you have radar. You will have fault codes.
As canbus messages are missing.
I dont have radar cruise control and we used my car as developing car. So it doesnt have the messages.
But as soon as torque reduction is fixed.
Adam can figure out the radar canbus messages id Needed.
I would advise to use the bmw shifter.
Way better experience.

but the most forward way is get a bmw 8hp70 n57 gearboxes flash it with x5 50i software get a ioCan. Get f10 8hp shifter
Wire it up mounted it. Drive it.
Jaguar 3.0 8hp70 can be used as well. Works exactly the same. Flash it with x5 50i software or send me the tcu and i will flash it for you. pieter@kcperformance.eu
