Jerk in steering wheel.

Has anyone else noticed - in heavy traffic if I let up and then rapidly reapply the brakes there is a small jerk in the steering wheel? Electric brake problems?

I've seen plenty of jerks behind the steering wheel - but nothing like what you've described [sorry, couldn't resist]

On cheaper cars it is a sign of control arm movement. The suspension would be worn and the braking would push back the control arm and make the wheel point in a different direction to normal and cause the steering to pull.

If one side engages braking before the other it can also happen.

I dont know enough about steering to know for sure.

Corgiman - I have felt the same thing in stop and go traffic. It feels like one side is grabbing the brakes a split second before the other side. Doesn't happen all the time so I don't think about it too much. One of those things to mention at the next oil change I guess.

BMcD-E500 - Thanks for the feedback. It's not seroius enough for a separate trip to the dealer. Let me know if your shop finds a problem.
