Question on euro front bumper strips

Where do you get these? I hate the orange reflectors. Do they come prepainted? I will need Obsidian for my coming 05 E55.

Thanks

Lorinsor offers them and they are the Mercedes european part. They come prepainted and cost around $300 I believe. They do not include the chrome trim piece which is very easy to break when removing the original strips. I would definately recommend this as it transforms the front of the vehicle by bringing the bumper and body more uniform in appearence. Removal of the stock pieces can be nerve racking as everything is plastic and requires some serious tugs to remove. Hope this helps.

You can get them from Steve (MBenzNL). Check out his site, www.mbenznl.com or mail steve@mbenznl.com

Removal of the existing ones is a lot easier with the use of a plastic wedge. This is available from the dealership parts department.

I just ordered a set from the place mentioned above. Communication is great and they were only $180 pre-painted!

Are those 19's or 20's on that E55? Getting the same rims for mine, just curious as I am leaning more towards the 19's so I wont have to worry about hurting them as much.

My Euro front bumper impact strips arrived today in excellent order. They look great! Can anyone tell me how to get the old ones off the car? I dont want to hurt it. Anyone pulled them off before? Any help would be appreciated.

Lots of people have done it... search in the forums... preferred tool is a plastic wedge! (part number posted elsewhere... sorry don't have it right here.)

p.s. W203 instructions are pretty much applicable.

What do you do with the turn signal bulb?, won't the computer register if you remove it?
I am placing the order for mine today.

Thanks,
Manuel

I got a set of Brilliant Silver strips from Steve. They DO come with chrome inserts. You tuck the light and wire inside the fender well. Do not remove the bulb or you will get an indicator on your dash.

Strips are easier to put on than take off. You do need some type of stiff plastic card or wedge to pry them off.

Very good question! I would assume the computer would freak out if we remove the light.

I too ordered from BenzNL and I have an email confirmation that my unit was shipped.

E55 POWER, I just realized I registered with basically the same name. I will email the Moderator to change my ID.

There is nothing we can put in there, like a dummy bulb that would make it think its there? I dont think im crazy about the idea of a light being on underneath there...

There is a way of soldering in a resistor to take the place of the bulb. Do a search on Euro bumper strips or impact strips....that is where I read it. My lights do not show through.

Im not necessarily worried about the light showing through...but having a light on and generating heat, against the inside of the bumper...

That and if and when the bulb DOES go out, youd have to take out the entire strip again ! just to put in a bulb youll never see til the next time it goes out lol.

I installed mine. I couldnt get the old ones off from the front, I had to go through the fender liner but it was fast and very simple. I removed my bulbs and taped the socket just for protection. The display immediately blinked that there was a message and it was about the left and right bulbs being gone so I scrolled through the functions and havent seen the warning since. If I see it again, I will put the bulbs back in. I am attaching a picture of the finished product, its sweet!

We tried replacing the bulbs with resistors to erase the error message and avoid the bulbs from hanging in the front fender area. Even after getting specific resistors made to match the cr's electrical system, we still continues to get error messages. We eventually left the bulbs in with the lense and put covered it in electrical tape and wedged it into an area so it does not flop around while driving. Hope this helps.
