I've had a look online on how to remove the rear parcel shelf, but it seems like all are specific to the e55 style parcel shelf, where the headrests go through the parcel shelf itself.
On the W211 E63, the headrests are part of the seats, and at first glance seems easy to remove the parcel shelf. However, I couldn't get to removing it after an hour of trying. I just wanted to paint it black with some flat black Rustoleum fabric spray to rejuvenate the interior somewhat, as currently the parcel shelf is purple. If anyone has any ideas/experience, please share!
I used the rust-oleum "fabric & vinyl" black spray, and topped it off with the scotchguard shield to prevent fading. Also managed to paint the speaker grille, which was just held down by some clips. That just comes off by pulling it.

Hi MBturbofan, how did you finally get the parcel shelf off?
