I've recently developed a little squeak in my overhead console area. I only hear it when I go over bumps or accelerate so it's not the sunroof issue (grinding). It's a squeak not a rattle. I've taken down the OH console and I don't see anything loose in it. The mirror is nice and tight. Having trouble nailing down the source of the squeak. Anyone else have this issue?? It's a weird one I know.
Also, does anyone know what the black box is in the middle of the photo on the windshield? I wonder if it's coming from there??
Do you think there's anything inside of the box that could lead to this squeak I'm getting?
My suggestion is to use a section of rubber hose to act as a stethoscope. Have someone drive the car on the road that makes it squeak the most. You use the stethoscope with one end of the tube to your ear and the other slowly moved from one location to another until you zero in on where the noise is coming. I think the sensor has a couple of 'eyes' that look through the windhshield and are connected to a small circuit board. the sensor could be the noise, but that's just a WAG. Use your rubber tube and you will likely find it. Good luck.
