CLS55 gas pump issue

After 260 miles I am sure my gas tank is kind empty so went to fill up gas in Costco (91) as usual. Then I could only pump 7 gallons. I knew the car should take more so keep pumping slowly but it spill out.
And when I turn my car on, it show about 60%
When the gas spill out means the tank is full right ? anyone with this experience ?

Thank you.

Likely the level sensor is incorrect unless there is a restriction which would be less likely.

You mean the gas tank got so full that gas were spilling out of the fuel filler hole?

Im thinking the evap system should stop that from happening?

Your easy way to figure this out is remove the fuel pump hat and see how much fuel is there. I would run it a few miles to lower the level a little so it does not spill out.
If it is full your level system is off / failed like baltistyle stated.
