Loud bang!
Hi guys, hoping someone can shed some light on my situation- 2008 E63 with pano roof- 3 times in last 2 months have a loud as hell Bang! When sitting at idle, and once after I parked and was already out of the vehicle - sounds like a gunshot inside the car Seems to be coming from backseat area, but do loud, hard to say for certain- looked all over - no damage anywhere- all glass, roof,doors, trunk, suspension, tires,etc. not a scratch or crack or anything out of the ordinary.

I've heard of the glass flexing but banging and popping....no. I too have a panoramic roof, and I drove my E63 into work this morning in 28 degree weather in Northern VA.
No issues here. But I'm not say that your issue isn't real, just trying to figure out your issue.

Just throwing a question out there,
Has anyone taken the driveshafts out of these cars?
Is there a rubber donut out back connecting to the diff? Maybe something to look at.
Very odd issue, but subscribing to see what you find out!

Thanks guys, I appreciate your input! Don’t have any airmatic issues, and don’t think it’s driveline related- no vibrations, super smooth at all speeds. Also , it happened once when car was parked and I was outside the car- still loud, definitely sounded from inside passenger compartment

Could it be something w your stereo? Do you have the MB Bluetooth hands free receiver?
After I installed an inline BlueTooth receiver in my G55 the first time I received a call the BT and MB HandsFree had a free for all battle that had a ton of popping and interference in my speaker system.
Turned out that it had some "loopback" interference and I had to put an isolator in.
Prob not your issue, but you've got us stumped.
If it could be replicated could help to have video.

Thanks almostordinary- I’ve checked the stereo system/ speakers- not the source, also dont have the Bluetooth , and it happened last time, 2days ago, with stereo on and playing normal volume- no interruptions- maybe I have a firearm wielding ghost?

Update
Resolved - the gunshot loud bang was the spring device inside the rear sunroof shade roller- the spring broke with violent loud bang ! Now I’m trying to find a repkk look a cement rear shade
