Key outside car - but the buttons don't light up. I wiggled some wires towards rear of gateway and they came on briefly, buttons worked and then light went out and now button light off and not working again ... So clearly some wiring is messed up / dry contact ... just need to trace it... as far as I can see there is only one pair of wires from this unit connecting to the gateway?

Trunk closing unit working fine now after replacing module and I have a new battery as well as pulling EVERYTHING out the trunk and refitting and testing wires (al were fine). You do need to reset the trunk limits with the door switch -> open, close, open, close and hold 3 or 4 seconds after closed and done. Same with windows & sunroof. TBH I think the whole issue was the battery and the Battery control module playing tricks.

I'll now revisit the parasitic draw when I can but I am knackered being bent over in my cars trunk for a few days as well as trying to weld up my cracked Kleemann Headers... think they are beyond repair at this stage but Ill see how far I can get welding them up. Almost every primary is cracked at the collector externally, which I can get to, but also internally in the middle section of the collector. Long story .. seperate post to follow.

Yeah tell me about it. I did the bend over thing a few weeks ago to fix my trunk wires (third brake light out, found a LOT of broken and previously and poorly repaired wires).

Look for the zip ties, and get rid of them. It's the ties that break the wires.

I disagree with that entirely. I've had practically no electrical issues at all, but I take care of my cars.

They have them all over the place. That's one. There's several inside the HELLA headlights I cut for the same reason --- the zip ties break the insulation because the wires are too small and/or they are exposed to heat. Without the ties, the wires would probably last forever.

Yeah I see how they feel about wire routing when I did the rear shocks. Must have been like 13 places the ADS harness was secured between the shock and where it plugs into the junction block.

Those kind of ties are actually fine. It's the actual zip ties they used here and there.

I opened it back up to inspect. Not a ziptie to be found. So all I ended up doing was removing a 2" section of split loom that I installed because I do think it was adding too much stiffness to the end of the harness as it came out of the trunk support. Now it may be able to flex more evenly. It's the repeated beyond 90 degree bend in a single area that is clearly the issue.
