Will Mercedes replace SBC without a fault?

I called the dealership today about our SBC pump. I'm not feeling anything wrong with it, but would like to have it fixed pro-actively. They were a little cryptic : "bring it in and we'll check coverage".

Has anyone else tried to have them replace the pump proactively under the warranty? I confirmed the warranty is good until 2028 on my W211 E55.

I did the same thing recently on my newly purchased 2006 E55. The service advisor was actually argumentative about it. After talking to her "supervisor" they said they will only replace it if a fault is shown, even though it is a known safety issue. When I asked for them to at least tell me what number of activations it has stored so I would have a rough idea of when it would time out I was told there was no way to do that. Not going back to them again.

That was the type of call I had as well. He said they needed to check the "coverage", which was codes on the car and the part number of the pump (which they have anyway from the VIN). He was clear that if they don't find fault with it, they'll charge me an hour's diagnostic labor.

I actually had my car down there for a recall, so it was in person. I know the SBC pump has a counter that can be viewed in software. For them to tell me there was no way to see how many cycles the pump has done tells me a lot about the dealership. I guess we both just wait until a fault code is thrown.
