Have checked every single thread here about this P2540 code !
And I am truly stumped and I need answers ! I'm getting this code occasionally but not having any symptoms of faulty pumps or loss of power of any kind ! Have an 08 E63 amg with 149k miles on it. Take very good care of it. Starts up with a roar every time and I never experience loss of power while driving when it comes on. So makes me feel like it's not the filter or the pumps. Before I go down the rabbit hole and start throwing my money away does any one have some suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!!!

Get a fuel pressure gauge rental from autozone. Connect it to the schrader valve on the fuel rail, run it out the back of the hood to the windshield and place it under your wiper. Drive around like that for a bit and keep an eye on fuel pressure. Just because you can't feel any difference does not mean you don't have low fuel pressure. You might burn out the pump, wiring, relays, or connectors before you feel anything. Any sort of restriction (clogged filters/kinked lines/etc) causes increased current draw from the pump and you risk causing more damage on the electrical side, which these cars are very prone too.
