Fuel Pumps & Fuel Sender Replacement : Parts / Tools

Hey gang,

Finally getting my E63 back on the road for a couple of road trips, and finally giving my G55 a break from being the daily.

I've replaced everything fuel related as well as rebuilt my intake manifold and have been getting all the low fuel pressure codes, so decided to finally replace the pumps and sending unit.

I'd say this is about a 4 out of 10 in difficulty.

Tools:
Fuel Pump removal tool, get this, don't use a screw driver and hammer to take off the caps.
Amazon Amazon

8mm socket to remove the covers for the fuel pump and sendiing unit.
Fuel clamp, you may need to replace the fuel line clamp on the sending unit... mine was unusable after I removed it.
Flat head screw driver to remove the quick release clamps.
Rags
Vacuum cleaner (There will be dust that will need to be cleaned up before opening up the tank)

Parts:
Pump Assembly x $394.00 https://www.mbpartsworld.com/oem-par...bly-2114703694
Tank Module x $514.00 https://www.mbpartsworld.com/oem-par...ule-2114706394
Connector x $13.00 https://www.mbpartsworld.com/oem-par...ess-2114400507

!! Buy that connector, because the new Tank Module (Sending Unit) requires it because the connection has been updated from stock, so it's essentially a dongle to connect the old with the new.

My sending unit was actually leaking, had I seen this before taking it apart and ordering the parts I would have taken it in for the recall... But likely would have lost my car for a week plus.

There was gas here before taking the line off, crazy.

Be careful, the line is under pressure so have rags on standby.

These videos made this all a breeze

Don't use a screwdriver to open the tops, but this lets you see what you're in for.

Put it all back together, gave the car some time to prime the fuel system and she's screaming better than ever.

Next are new plugs since I'm sure my current ones must be fouled out from running lean.

Also remember to get the gas way down, to or below the reserve level.

Good luck!

Save the hat from the top of the fuel pumps. Sometimes folks have an issue where the contacts overheat and melt the plastic and you can use your old hat so that someone can repair their vehicle without having to purchase an entire new set of fuel pumps.

I have the OE pump and filter module from my 06 CLS55 that was working just fine still when I replaced them for a leaking fuel hat on the filter module due to a loose lock ring. If anyone needs the pump or sender let me know.

Thanks!
