Engine

Hello, I’m new here and I’m not sure how this works but I’m having an issue with my E55 it’s pretty high mileage cause that’s how I bought it from the auction but it just started recently making a loud valve tapping noise and was wondering if anybody had any insight on what it could possibly be cause I really don’t want to have to buy a new engine …

Take both belts off and try again. Don't let it run more than a minute this way.

I’ve tried it without the supercharger belt on but not the serpentine belt yet I’ll make another video of both belts off when I get off work.

The supercharger still spins without a belt from engine vacuum. Visually inspect the supercharger clutch bearing as well.

Serpentine and supercharger belt removed

So I believe I found the problem, my a/c compressor is toast I spin it and hear the bearings spinning inside but how could it be making that rod knock sound lol?

I think the compressors leak oil and eventually without oil in the system they fail. I added 1+ oz of PAG-46 before my last road trip because I have seen evidence of such an oil leak. Trying to keep it alive...
