Power Steering Pump issues
Hello, I know that there are a couple of threads already related to the power steering pump in the m156, but I had another question. I know that the most common cause of a whiny power steering pump is the reservoir/ filter, and the easiest fix is to change that. The car is my parent's 2011 e63 and unfortunately, they just didn't pay enough attention and notice an issue until it was quite literally screaming at them. They asked the mechanic that they take it to about it and he suggested that we replace just the reservoir, but it had to go in for other maintenance anyways so I waited to do it so he could listen in person, and he said based on the noise it might actually be the pump. So I know that the noise is caused by the filter being clogged and starving the fuel pump, so do you think that I should just go for it and replace everything all at once, because the pump may have gotten damaged from the constant starvation, or should I just try to replace the reservoir and hope that it fixes it. I would prefer to just do it all at once if it's more likely that it's the pump because fcp euro sells everything together for cheaper, and I don't want to replace the reservoir and fluid and then have to waste all that fluid if it doesn't fix it. I am pretty comfortable working on cars, but this engine bay is super tight and I would prefer to not replace the pump if you guys think it could just be the reservoir. So again, do you think that the pump may be damaged and I should replace that as well, or should I just do the reservoir? Attached a video so you guys can hear. Thanks!

I'd rather fix it once and be done with it. Or you can throw money at it, hoping that you fixed the issue.
Seeing that the pump is 10 yrs old, and their not too expensive, I would replace the pump and reservoir.
Are you positive that the noise isn't related to low power steering fluid.
