2008 E63 front bumper cover refresh- before and after
The front bumper on my wagon had been poorly resprayed once previously- probably on the car and without proper prep. Here's a (too long) 'before' video showing the rock chips and peeling and the bad cracking in the center bottom:
I disassembled it and took it to Perfect Bumper and Wheel in Montebello, CA. They stripped the paint, repaired all the cracks and damaged areas, and put a coat of high build primer on it. I sanded it to 400 grit, sprayed another coat of high build, sanded that to 600 with guide coat and then had it painted, cleared, and color sanded at Dr. B's in Costa Mesa. I supplied the paint, color matched by Sav-On Supplies in Costa Mesa starting with the factory color code (Tanzanite Blue Metallic, 359U)
Shot of all the support pieces and light assemblies:
Here's the 'after' video, after reassembling everything. $400 for stripping/repair primer, $150 in paint supplies (a quart was way too much but the smallest batch of custom color they'd do), $200 to paint and clear, and some elbow grease on my end. I'm happy with the result.

Wow Roberte01, that color. VERY nice!
I'm glad you posted this. I just recently picked up a new to me E55 (speed sled) that is going to need the front and rear bumpers as well as the plastic roof rails re-sprayed the original silver and my idea has always been to remove them and take them to a paint shop to have this done and then re-install them myself. But my problem was I never could figure out what shops would even entertain someone rolling in with "off-the-car" bumpers. I'm in Costa Mesa all the time. I'll definitely start with DR'S B Auto. I see they're on 16th street...is that the place?

The front bumper cover on my 09 E63 was also showing age effects - road rash and a couple bruises on the bottom from parking curbs. I elected to buy a new cover from MB, new Hella headlights, new foglights and the three center grilles as well as a new chrome hood grill. Essentially a full facelift with new MB parts. After it was painted and cured for a month, I had PPF applied to the entire bumper cover and Lamin-X on the headlights/fog lights. You did a facelift for a lot less than my $5k investment. Of course, the headlights were $1,500 by themselves. Well done.
