Marcus-

You were right.

I decided that while the handling of the 911 C4S Cab. is in a different league than that of the E55, I also decided that the power of the E55 is in a different galaxy than that of the 911 (except the Turbo, of course).

So, I'm coming back. I'm picking up an '05 E55 AMG on Monday.

I am hopeful that my experience with the handling/drift is better this time around. I know my kids will definitely like riding in the back of the E55 better than the back of the Carrera.

Thanks for your input!

Vic,

Think not of it in terms of right and wrong, for my intention was never to be right or wrong, rather I simply laid out an alternative perspective. It's good to have you back, and I also hope that you have a better experience this time around.

Best of luck,

Marcus

I'd certainly be up for it. We should post something to gauge interest.

I expect to be back in the fold by tomorrow evening. Then I have to get through the break-in period!

Welcome back Vic.

Does this mean you'll be doing the 2005 AMG Challenge (advanced course)?

Vic,

I should also mention (since you mentioned the 911 turbo) - I raced a GIAC chipped 996TT 6-speed from 60mph-155mph, and his initial grunt got him a car length on me, above 110-120 it was DEAD even. This is a 911TT that put down 475rwhp (a friend of mine). So even the 911 turbo, stock for stock, is not outside of acceptable victims to the BEAST

Marcus-- I can believe it. I picked it up this evening, and it felt good to be back. The new car is definitely a bit simpler than the first, i.e no phone, and no TPM, which were two of the electronic items that were plagued with gremlins in Beast #1. The next 1000 miles are going to be tough.
