W211 E55 air intake blocked on driver side? Help needed

Hi All,

I was getting ready to replace my valve cover gaskets when I noticed something very odd with the intake. As you can see from the pictures, after removing the intake from the top of the engine I noticed that the ducting on the driver side , right to the side of the radiator looked disconnected.
It turns out there is a plastic piece there that totally obstructs the intake on that side. Is that right or should it be a piece more like the one on the passenger side with gills that let the intake air through? I've included pictures that show the part number as well, does anyone here know if this part is right or what the right PN should be? Thanks!

You should have two clear open air snorkels to your engine and maybe just water shedding vents like on the passenger side.
