misread.
that M178 will make gobs more power, easier, than the m113k could ever hope to.

That one has to be all NASCAR out the tailpipes!

Must go real good.

After headers we put Exhaust Kittahs in Jay’s K8 where the pipes separate and needed more muffler as she was sooo loud. It makes him giggle to this day.

I will take a revving vid tomorrow, cruising it is very docile, not much to it, at WOT it is open header loud.

Can you imagine hopping in one of these in the early 2000s? It would have been mind-blowing.

Yes, I like to tell people this is really the OG Hellcat. That isn't even that much of a stretch considering the LX is based on the W211 and IHI made the Hellcat blower as well. There is lineage there.

I can't imagine what it would have been like in mid-2002. I mean it performed exactly like a C5 Z06 but in a totally comfortable sedan platform.

E55 was faster than the Z06 and ran heads up with a Viper.

I'd like to add a caveat. They are about the same in controlled conditions but in street situations, if one car is an auto and the other is a manual, the auto is almost always going to be faster. Because the street is not controlled conditions. On paper they are about the same. Same mid to low 12s @ 114-115 or so. I'll even take back my use of the word "exactly." Overall, my point stands.

A car magazine tested the Z06 versus E55 back in the day and the Z06 came up short. The Viper, the Z06 and E55 all were close. So yeah you are correct…

Road and Track June 2003:
0-60mph 1/4mile
E55 4.2 12.4@116.4mph
Corvette Z06 4.5 12.8@113.5mph
Corvette 4.9 13.4@107.5mph

C&D December 2001 (2002 Z06): Standing 1/4-mile: 12.4 sec @ 116 mph

C&D March 2003 (2003 E55): 1/4 mile: 12.7 sec @ 117 mph

117 is blazing I admit but it's also only 1 mph than the Z06 from the same magazine. And 12.7 is not 12.4. I've also seen magazine trap speeds for the E55 as low as like 113-114?

On DRs though....but they don't increase trap.

High 11s aren't typical for either of these cars, stock.

this is exactly what made me fall in love with these cars. a normal looking sedan that would beat/keep up with a vette - what was cooler than that in the mid 2000's? iirc these things depreciated like rocks in the late 2000's due to the air suspension worries and the arnott fix not being an option yet. i toyed with taking the plunge on one as a fresh college grad not making nearly enough to afford to fix it but eventually moved into manhattan and was car-less for 8 years. my taste for cars was pretty much paused during that time so as soon as my now wife and i decided to move out of the city i knew instantly what i'd be shopping for. picked mine up off ebay in october '18 and still can't think anything else i'd rather drive.

Here's a pic of my brother & dad on 79&amsterdam headed back upstate to store it for me for a few weeks while i worked on the move. the 3 of us all flew down to Raleigh to pick it up then drove back back to NY. I was kinda upset no one tried to race me along the way but flying under the radar is part of the beauty of these things

Hey man, I’m just logging in after year off myself. Just so happen your post was one of the first I saw. I can’t even remember what it was I purchased from you. I’m getting old. The memory is horrible. Welcome back though.

I’ve still got it . I’ve probably only put about 500 to 600 mile on it over the past three years. It sits there plugged into the battery tender. An old lady swiped the corner of the front bumper and I haven’t had time or motivation the pull the bumper and spray it . That and the decline spoiler needs to be replaced painted . The old clear they use on those carbon fiber spoilers is garbage and it’s peeling . Both of those aren’t even that noticeable but I I’m funny about driving it like that. My girlfriend keeps telling me I should just take it to a buddy of mine’s shop and let him do it . She’s probably right as I’ve been saying I’ll get around it literally for years now . I did finally go get the paint mixed for it a few weeks ago so it shouldn’t be long now. lol Didn’t you get a STS around the time I dropped off of the forums ?

I always liked your car with the blue. Not everyone would like it but it’s different and not the same boring colors.

What color is that btw?

Im glad to see I’m not the only one putting very few miles on an E. Lol.

No not me you must be thinking of someone else. What state are you in? Just curious.
