hi guys,

i agree that the install looks great and is completely invisible under the rear window deck. i have this question though...why not just put the antenna
on the rear window deck with the black weather cover on it? just in case
the reception is not 100%. just a thought

Yes, you could do that too, but then it would still be visible. If you want a total stock/clean look, then under the rear deck it needs to go.

Whichever one is available (1 of 5)
I have a silver 2004 E500, and I choose to have my Sirius antenna mounted on the roof in front of the Tele Aid antenna.

That looks pretty stealthy. For some reason the antenna look smaller there than when on top of the rear trunk.

That antenna is clearly much smaller than the picture of the trunk mounted antenna.

You are looking at two different antenna, I think.

The antenna on the roof in front of the Tele Aid is actually an XM antenna. It is the Terk Xmicro. Even though this antenna is tuned for XM radio, the frequency range(2332.5 - 2345.0 MHz) is on the border of the Sirius radio frequency range(2320 - 2332.5MHz). This is a very low profile magnet mounted antenna, smaller in size than all the Sirius antennas I compared with. The size of this antenna, I believe, is only 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". I live in Georgia, and so far I have not experienced any loss of signal or signal degradation (that I can hear w/my ears). Some techies will disagree w/me regarding using this XM antenna for Sirius radio. All I know is that I have this antenna installed for about 3 weeks now, and to my human ears, all the channels come through fine for me. I cannot vouch for receptions in other areas of the United States. All I know is that in Atlanta area, the reception seems to be fine.

I had the antenna installed in the rear deck lid in a brand new C55.
Reception is iffy and am having the dealer change it to a roof mount. The clean "no see" install is fabulous until you challenge the Sirius even a little bit. It is truly disappointing that MB put enough attention on Audio to integrate an excellent sat radio into the car and then totally dropped the ball on engineering a discreet antenna to finish the job.

hi guys,

you know what i think is really whacked.
i have an 04 GMC Denali and an 04 GMC
2500HD Crew Cab pickup and they both
have integated XM, Onstar, and voice
activated cell phones built in!
it's a shame that MB, BMW, and Audi are
still a step behind in this area?
sometimes i think it is more of a culture
issue than a technological issue. i wonder
if the germans still don't understand the
US market?

Man... the dealer mount in the middle of the trunk completely blows. I say they owe you a new trunk lid. The rear deck one is pretty slick. The one on the roof is fairly good too. Here's two more options done by Randall at AutoWerksExpress. The first is rather custom and cut and painted into the hood grill. The second is stuck in the mirror assembly.
