Build sheet from VIN

Hi all,
I am hoping for some assistance with getting a copy of the build sheet for my W211 E55. In particular, its the wood trim colour that I would like to find. The online VIN decoders have quite a bit of information but don't mention the wood trim. Any help with getting a copy would be greatly appreciated. VIN is : WDB2110762A168601

Anyone know if I should expect much of a difference in colour if replacing a trim piece with a new one as a result of the original part being 18 years old ?
The piece in question is the cover over the ashtray that someone may have pressed too hard and there is a curved crack in the lacquer finish

Thanks,
Mark

Here you go but it does not show the wood trim option so I looked in the parts catalog for your VIN and note that it states the wood trim (dashboard) as Birdseye Maple Wood, Black option code 732 and color code 9D57. Hope that helps.

I'd try to get a used one. The wood naturally bleaches out over time and a new piece will be noticably darker than the rest of the wood.
What you could try is, to carefully sand it down and apply a fresh clearcoat on the cracked piece,

HI, UncleBenz55 (great name BTW ,
Sounds like a good idea as I can always order the part if I stuff it up. I'll research the method and products to use and give it a go.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Cheers

I think I have the same crack(s). One on the ashtray door and one at the corner of each seat heater button.

They haven't really bothered me...but now I can't stop looking at them.

In the older car forums I've been a part of, like w202 and w124, I've heard some people say you can repair these cracks if you can place the wood trim piece in an oven at a certain temperature. Allegedly, after a certain period of time, the finish "melts" just enough for the crack to immediately disappear.

Hi MetalE55, yes the crack in the ashtray is the same. Must be from pressing too hard which isn't necessary IMO. Sulaco's suggestion about putting the pieces in an oven could be interesting particularly if others have had some success with it. I'll be looking further into that idea, maybe pickup a cracked item from a breakers yard and try on that before doing it on mine.

Cheers

Hi Sulaco,
Thanks for letting me know about the oven idea. That could be a good fix, I'll try it on a another rim first when I get a piece to try it on. I'll post the result after the test. It won't be real soon as fun time is a bit limited this month.

Cheers
