My compressor pulley has died and I've ordered basically an entire AC system to fix it properly.
Then someone on Facebook pointed out my pulley failed and that a replacement is $60 and can be done without removing the compressor from the car.

There you go. That's pretty much what I did on my S550. Looks similar, too, with those rubber dog bone things. If I recall, remove snap ring, unthread the outer part from the compressor shaft that engages the pulley, remove pulley from compressor snout. Not much to it, but it can be tight quarters.
There may have been a snap ring and a circlip....

The oil cooler lines leaked onto the belts, causing them to slip off and get caught up behind the harmonic balancer, within a split second of binding up behind the balancer it pushed in the main oil seal and the teeth on the gear of the oil pump and chain pulled the belts into the motor.

I got to tell you that's the most insane thing I have ever heard happening.
To answer just make sure the marks are facing you. They are not timed and I have had them apart many times so no worrys about that.
