W211 (or if you are a real Mercedes geek S211) AMG E55 Wagons are incredibly rare with just over 1400 made globally over 3 years and under 200 imported to the US. I'm lucky enough to have one in my garage and I just saw that one was listed for sale on Bring A Trailer.

I have ZERO affiliation with the seller but I thought I'd give the forum a heads up as these are super cool, rare, and don't come up very often for sale. Judging this car I would expect a sale price in the low to mid 30K range. Yes a LOT more than a comparable sedan but here you are paying for the rarity. Mine gets compliments to every car show I go and on the street it is a total sleeper.

I have come up repeatedly with numbers in the 1430 range as I have dug through various resources. This number seems pretty reliable and is supported by more than just searching the internet to find the same articles repeated in different places.

Information about Mercedes Benz production number is publicly available, you just need to know where to look. AMGMeister did a vid about it:

Well if someone could have bought it from the OG owner before hitting BAT. they might could have bought it at a good price. In the driving vid it looked to be an older man that was driving it. Some of the pics and vids were from a home. Also one bidder messaged him to look at it directly.
It looks like a nice car with a little corrosion around on the aluminum parts. A good dry ice cleaning, repaired wheels, paint detail and it would be a super nice ride. But it would have to way less than $41k for me.

But you walk like a duck, act like a duck, eat like a duck… guess what? You’re a duck.

I always celebrate when an E55 sells for a great price. And doubly so for wagons (I own one). But this is the forum where one person told me they wouldn't give me $5k for mine since it has a rebuilt title, but then went on to tell a story about how they tried to pay $10k for an E500 wagon in the same thread.
But on BaT, I've heard LOTS of people with really weird first-hand stories about how it could be a racket. And then I've also heard first-hand stories to the inverse where it's just impulsive rich people who don't know/care if they overpay. But watching this auction, even if the winning bidder backs out at 41k, it still sells to the 2nd place bidder at 39k? If I were the seller I can't imagine giving a crap either way.

If you want proof that they are catering to wholesalers, look at this abomination:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...300-cabriolet/
That listing would have NEVER been accepted from a private seller.

I ended up reaching out to the seller and made a deal to buy it at $41k. It felt like an overpay but low mile 1-owner E55 wagons don't come up for sale often so I figured I should pounce.
Excited for it to arrive next week. Planning on getting the cosmetics fixed up asap and then maybe some mods. Would love some advice on what I should do!

Congratulations on the purchase. I have been driving my E55 wagon around a lot lately and it is great because it is a total sleeper but enthusiasts always go nuts when they see it.

Being one of the last 1 owner E55 wagons with relatively low miles and no mods I would recommend leaving it alone.
But if you're dead set, I wouldn't worry about upping the boost. Just do a decent seat of headers and upgrade the cooling (more efficient intercooler pump, bigger heat exchanger in front bumper) and then do a quality ECU tune. It'sll be noticeably faster and louder but nothing that's annoying to live with.
