Intermittent Fuel Smell
As of the last few months, my 2005 E55 has developed an intermittent fuel smell. I daily the car and about once a week, I notice a mild to moderate fuel smell in the cabin. The smell becomes present after the car sits and never begins during driving. Completely clears up after some time driving and goes away for days at a time. About to pull up the rear seats and check for seepage, but it seems unlikely since the smell completely disappears for days at a time. The smell really only becomes apparent after the car sits overnight and has been gone for over a week at times. No correlation to fuel capacity, has happened on a full tank and near empty. I thought I would reach out because this sounds like a doozy to diagnose and I haven’t heard of anyone with this specific fuel smell problem. Hopefully someone has some insight. Thanks!
