Oil pan swap from CL55 to E55

I purchased a spare engine for my 2006 E55 that came out of a CL55. Do I need to just swap the upper and lower oil pans or is the oil pump/pickup different as well? If anyone happens to have a set of E55 oil pans I would be interested.

Different oil pumps. You would benefit from having the MB parts catalog as there may well be other different parts too. The engine in your E55 is identified as 113.990 while the other engine is 113.991. Some of these differences are part of those two indentification numbers.

I don't have the E55 parts you're after, but I'd be interested in your CL55 pans and pump, though.

Believe any E class M113 pans would work for you, but the pump I think is M113K specific.

Correct that all oil pumps are only used on M113K engines. For the pump used in the E Class the oil pump is used on the 990, 992, and 995 versions of the M113K engine. For the CL engine that oil pump is only used on the 991 version of the M113K.

Is the actual pump different or is it just the pickup? Can the E55 pickup be removed and installed on a CL55 pump?

PM me. When I end up replacing the current pans I am sure we could work something out.

Based on the drawings in the parts catalog they are similar but different. Drawings are not always accurate. See attached.

Thank you, as always, for your help. The attachments answered the questions I had.

Why is it that the online parts sites do not show the breakdown of the parts the same way? It does not appear that most of those parts are even orderable on the online sites.

It seems most, if not all, online parts sellers use the same software (RevolutionParts) to display the parts. It is crude, at the best. If you don't want to have the MB parts catalog on your own computer, you can try this site: https://partsouq.com/en/ This site uses the orignal MB parts screens. It is best to use a VIN, but you can look up parts without it (kinda a pain though). Once you have the relavent part number, go to your favorite discount online MB parts seller and check on the price. Good luck.

What I have wondered is if the actual pump rotors are the same. I know the E55 has dual pickups vs the single of the CL55. There is that rotor upgrade for the E, and have wondered if it will work in the CL pump.
