So I was driving home tonight, and beating on the car a little bit. Few times traction control kicked in and bogged the car pretty hard. So about a mile from my house I got the ESP MALFUNCTION warning and the car went into limp mode. I popped the hood when I got home and noticed my supercharger belt was shredded. Is this something that just happens from time to time when a belt jumps or am I searching for some more ominous underlying causes?
Mods are:
Belt wrap kit
Pulley kit83 mm SC pulley with a tune
Everything else is stock car has 75000 miles and had about 2500-3000 miles on the belt and pulley kits . Nothing looks out of whack as of now.
*Also when I start the car with no SC belt the supercharger and s still spinning, I'm assuming from engine vacuum?

Did you figure this out. Just purchased a cls 55 and it did this day 1.
I have a cls55 and had this happen to me after I installed a bwk and had one of the brackets for the kit not sitting flush on the timing case and caused the belt to shed. When the belt blew under power the sudden shock caused the ESP light to come on for me too. I cleared the code and fixed the misalignment and no problems since.
I had that happen to me once. I was stepping on a bit and had to let off the gas quickly, another car didn't look and pulled into my lane. Drove about 15 miles and noticed the car seemed "weak.' Next day lifted the hood and the belt was shredded. I also have a UPD belt wrap kit.
I believe it was caused by the quick reversal of on boost to heavy braking. 180 on the belt tension. Replaced the belt, no issues.
