E55 Snow Performance Methonal

Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased and having it installed a Snow Performance single nozzle with throttle body plate kit. My tuner told me to track iat's and step up the nozzle from there but starting off with the smallest and only running 10-15% meth. This is for cooling only and zero tuning I'm not trying to gain power by using it and optimizing a tune for it just too cool of the iat's if that's possible. I will at the same time do split cooling. Has anyone had any experience running methonal injection and how did it work out? My car is. 04 E55 with the inly mods being 77 clutched pulley, intake and tune with 630cc injectors.

This place is a joke.
Been there, done that, complete waste of time and money and possibly detrimental to the engine. Eventually the solenoid or check valves will leak and you'll pull the mixture into the engine under vacuum, and bad things can happen such as a hydrolock. Luckily I caught mine in time when I noticed a funny idle. Methanol is also corrosive to metal. My spark plug threads were so corroded I was very lucky they didn't pull the threads out of the head. I had to soak them with penetrating oil and work them back and forth, dripping nervous sweat the entire time. Never again... If I could go back in time I would've done a very small 35-50HP shot of nitrous....better cooling and real power gains.
Search this forum there's a very detailed post about my Methanol setup and maybe a couple others.

Did you tune for it? I thought about nitrous and the problem with nitrous is that nitrous solenoids fail and getting the bottle refilled sucks, the bottle needs to be cooled. Also there can be leaks in the system plus bottle pressure is key so you need to find what works best to get bottle pressure about 900psi give or take. I know this because I ran nitrous on 3 camaros and it royaly sucked. With methonal I'm not at all experienced and I know it mostly comes down to how much meth % what nozzle size and single or dual nozzle. So info is really all over the place over the years. Some like the results with meth and some not at all and it was a complete fail especially if you tune for it.

I have run Nitrous on every car I have owned and have it now on my E55 for 5 years with zero issues. A Nitrous system has to be well sorted out to work correctly and you should never ? have issues in my opinion. It is for sure a little more effort but I believe the payback with nothing more than a jet change is totally worth it.

I wasn't tuned for the meth, and no reputable tuner will do that for these cars. Replacement engines are becoming scarce and expensive. This isn't a small block Ford or Chevy. I did see at the most about 30F cooling from peak temps (160F iat down to 130F) , but could never prove that gained me any power.

Tuned for it since 2014. I don’t daily the car at all only short weekend drives at best. Make 564/666 gained like 75hp/100tq. Single nozzle post IC. Original setup had a 2nd at the TB. All is triggered at 8psi to spray. Sorry don’t know the nozzle size. I use the Boost Juice premix for ease. Also use the windshield washer bottle to keep it all in. Like it bc I get a message on the dash of when it ls low. Do have the check valve installed to help safety/peace of mind.
