Safety Recall? or is this old news...
I got a mandatory safety recall notice today in the mail for my 04 E55.
Says it has to do with the SBC braking system. I couldnt care less, and will have it done when I go in for service but I was curious, is this new? or old news...

The dealer shared with me this morning that the P005 recall as it is known in the UK was based upon the SBC unit life expectancy of 250,000 brake operations or 10 years use. In the last few months a number of german taxi drivers have reported failures as they have exceeded this number within two years!. The solution is to reset the counter or disable it. Does this sound like a life expectancy failure or a pre programmed part replacement? not accusing but just wondering!
